About 50% of Americans claim to floss daily.  My guess is that's a large over estimate. Either way, the benefits of flossing are INCREDIBLE!

Doing so daily prevents gum disease and tooth loss. Everyone gets plaque, and it can only be removed by flossing or a deep cleaning from your dentist.

Plaque buildup can lead to cavities, tooth decay, and gum disease. If left untreated, gum disease can be a risk factor for heart disease, diabetes, and a high body mass index.

Yes, not flossing can make you fat.

Not only that, but it greatly reduces bad breath.

We are often asked whether to floss before or after brushing the teeth. Although flossing first isn’t necessarily better for oral health than the other way around, flossing first is a good idea for many people because that way you get the task out of the way to avoid the temptation to not do it.

Flossing is not only important for cavity reduction, but it is also a method of maintaining proper gum health. Gingivitis (gum disease) is the first step in losing your teeth, and the nice thing about catching inflammation when gums are bleeding is you can reverse it then, if that’s all that’s going on, with proper flossing and brushing. Flossing at least once a day minimizes the nasty bacteria clinging in between and around your teeth.
