Preparation is key when it comes to a child’s first dental visit, and can help a person avoid a lifetime of dental anxiety.
According to the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, children should see a dentist when their first tooth comes in or by their first birthday. The article went on to advise that parents help make the first dental visit a positive experience by reading books about the dentist to the child in the days prior to their first exam, and also by bringing the child to see them have their twice-annual dental visit.
