New York Company Saving Patients’ Baby Teeth For Future Stem Cell Extraction.

A dentist, based in Georgia, is participating in a program by the New York-based company StemSave, a cryopreservation company that stores stem cells taken from teeth.  According to the dentist a baby tooth removed and saved could potentially one day save the child’s life.  He added that the stem cells could be used to grow him or her a new hip — or bladder.  The process works by saving the bone marrow in the baby teeth, a location for stem cell extraction that circumvents more painful and involved bone marrow removal. The StemSave service costs $630 with a $10 per month storage fee, and patients can make arrangements for using the StemSave process with their own dentist.
